Devil In The Detail SRD · Salford Semi Final Special as belief grows and tickets are sold Salford arrived in St.Helens brimming with belief after a wonderful run of form that’s taken them to the last four in the Super League. The sun was shining for this early afternoon kick off and the Salford travelling support packed the away terrace. A line of coaches arrived around an hour before kick off and the noise outside the ground added to the special atmosphere. I wasn’t around in the 1970s but I’ve heard a fair bit about those days and the army of supporters who used to travel to matches.  Salford coach Paul Rowley had to make a slight alteration to his side with Brodie Croft missing but on the whole things stayed pretty settled. Chris Atkin started at stand off with Amir Bourouh slotting in on the bench. The match started in rip roaring fashion and St.Helens came out firing. Salford lost Andy Ackers very early in the match with a head injury and sadly the Red Devils hooker didn’t retur

Devil In The Detail SRD · One Team One Dream journey to playoff and championship success podcast If you were a time traveler from the year 1980 who’d just arrived in 2022 you would find it hard to recognise the landscape of the North West of England. Take Salford and nearby Manchester for example. Both Cities were once the heart of industrial Britain. Now they are so cosmopolitan with new buildings sprouting up all the time. Forty two years is a long time but that’s how far you’ve got to go back for Salford’s last away victory at St.Helens. January 1980, Thatchers Britain for many was a bleak place to live. Lots of unemployment, social unrest, unions organising strikes left, right and centre but Salford Rugby League Club had hit a good patch of form in the First Division. The two Championship success’s of 1973/74 and 1975/76 were now a memory. Players from those sides had moved on and some that were now at the back end of their careers. A kevin Ashcroft drop goal helped Salford to an

Devil In The Detail SRD · One Team One Dream journey to playoff and championship success podcast   Salford arrived at the John Smith’s Stadium full of confidence and when the players got off the bus to enter the stadium they seemed focused and very determined. Huddersfield Giants have been a tough side to beat in 2022. Runners up in the Challenge cup final and a third place finish in the Super League have been a significant improvement on last season. Paul Rowley’s Salford side though have become a real threat to the Rugby League cartel. The top sides in the country are finding them so difficult to play against. Rowley’s players came out to warm up on the pitch prior to kick off and the noise from behind the sticks in the away end was deafening. The supporters seemed fearless and almost expectant now after the recent run of matches.  Salford were now able to name a strong side after over coming a fair few injury struggles earlier in the season. The match started in rip-roaring fashio

Devil In The Detail SRD · One Team One Dream journey to playoff and championship success podcast Well it’s almost here. A huge week for Salford Rugby League club and it’s loyal supporters. For many years since the Championship Winning sides of the 1970s Salford have been mediocre at best. Relegated on a number of occasions and more often than not, going into matches perhaps just to keep the score down. We’ve had the odd false dawn along the way but over the last five years the club has slowly and steadily gained plenty of respect in the sport with performances on the pitch and lots of hard work off it.  How many times have seasons fizzled out and you’ve been to the final few games with nothing on offer and not much to play for. This Saturday’s match makes it all worthwhile.  These are the games you want to be involved in. The whole week building up to the game is so exciting. Come 1pm on Saturday in the West Yorkshire town of Huddersfield the atmosphere will be absolutely fever pitch

Devil In The Detail SRD · Player of the year 2022 nominations and gearing up for the home straight.   It was a day of if’s, buts and maybe’s as Salford played at home for the final time in 2022. Leeds and Castleford met at Headingley to decide the final place of the top six but Salford were already sealed in the top six.  Coach Paul Rowley made plenty of changes to his side with debuts handed to six players of the clubs’ reserves side. Morgan Escare started in the halves partnering Harvey Livett. After a very lengthy injury layoff James Greenwood returned in the second row. The Red Devils started brightly and Escare’s clever kick caught the visitors defence out. Myles Dalton Harrop came close to a debut try but just couldn’t get to the ball in time.  The Wolves bagged the games first points with a neat try from exciting youngster Josh Thewlis scoring on the left edge. Warrington tried their luck down the left again. This time Oliver Holmes reached out showing great strength in the ta

The curtain will come down on Salford’s home season this Saturday with a clash with Warrington.  The Red Devils made the playoffs in sensational style on Monday with a 10-50 battering of Castleford Tigers at Wheldon Road. Roaring into a 0-20 lead in the first fifteen minutes of the match stunned the home side. Their was a brief fight back but Salford we’re untouchable in the second half scoring thirty unanswered points and not conceding any.  Salford are the form team of Super League and their devastating attack has got a fair few teams a little bit concerned as the season reaches the business end!  While Salford won both their matches over the bank holiday weekend Warrington lost their two. Beaten at home to Castleford last Thursday after once again surrendering a decent lead. On Monday they travelled to Huddersfield and at one stage trailed 32-10. New Australian signing Matt Dufty imp
