Batley 16 Salford 18 Match report

  Salford RLFC finished their 1 st season in the Championship with fantastic victory against Batley at Mount Pleasant. There was no major surprises in the Salford starting 17 with Jack Homes on the wing, Kieran Dixon at Fullback, Fin Yates in the front row and Damola Lola on the bench. There was early worry for Salford RLFC as Charlie Glover left the field with a head knock, he did return later in game, Salford opened the scoring after 9 minutes after good work by the Salford pack particular 2 nd row forward Reece Stanton with a strong run allowing Brad Dyer to go short side from the play of the ball 10 metres out he sent centre Joe Hartley over in the corner. Kieran Dixon converted the try and Salford lead 6-0. Oldham 36 Salford RLFC 28 Match Report

  Salford RLFC gave Oldham a scare in the sun shine  at Boundary Park on Sunday. Dec Murphy continued at Fullback for the Reds, Jack Homes moved into the centres, with loanees  Corey Jay Sharpe and Oli Polec who was impressive during  his stints on the field started on the bench, A decent away following cheered Dave Hewitt's men onto the field hoping for a better performance than last time out against Swinton Lions. Salford started the brighter of the two teams with hooker Brad Dwyer being creative around the ruck almost allowing Joe Hartley to send winger Kieran Dixon over in the corner, unfortunately the Oldham defence stood firm and Dixon was pushed into touch.   IMPROVED PERFORMANCE BRINGS NUMBER OF SMALL WINS AND PROMISE Salford RLFC 0  Oulton Raidettes 42 Match Report  David Clegg Not for the first time in recent weeks, Salford Ladies’ team was required to perform another ‘David & Goliath’ act, last Sunday, when they entertained Oulton Raidettes in their final home game of the season, though without the successful outcome of the Biblical story. With a team comprised of older teenagers, and only a couple of more experienced players, the home side had to contend with successive onslaughts on their defence, and frequently on their try line, from a team of older, physically stronger and more mature opponents, who revelled in their physical superiority throughout the encounter.   It was Derby Day at the Brick Stadium in Wigan on Saturday as fierce rivals Salford RLFC and Swinton Lions faced off in the championship in glorious Sunshine. 1 st opportunity of the game went Swinton Lions way after 6 nervous minutes for both sides a strong run by Swintons Josh Eaves created space on the outside but a forward pass by Centre Arron Lynch trying to find Ellis Anderson let Salford off the hook. A 26 man brawl broke out shortly after as Derby Day tensions spilled out on the field. Both sets of players did not take a backward step, Salford's Danny Lynch Charlie Glover were both sent to the Sin bin for potential part of a tip tackle or the frackar that followed and Salford were down to 11 men after 8 minutes.   Salford travelled to Widnes looking to get back to Winning ways after last weeks home defeat against London, Owain Able was a noticeable absentee from Dave Hewitt's starting 17 with Callum Green slotting into Scrum half position. Keane Gilford and Jack Homes were on the wings for Salford and Sadiq Ayanlaja Lowo made his debut for the club off the bench. A Solid start for both teams in the 1 st 5 minutes Widnes made a half break but as the ball went to ground it was kicked dead and Salford brought the ball away Salford Centre Joe Hartley had Salford's 1 st opportunity, Widnes were on the attack approaching Salford 20 metre line a long ball he intercepted and raced away after 10 minutes but the ref had judged that knock on had took place much to his disbelief as he walked back into his space in the defensive line.   It was another glorious Sunny day at the Corpacq as Salford faced off against the London Broncos. Before the game it was announced that Marc Sneyd will rejoin the club for the 2027 season on a two year deal, the crowd stood as one and celebrated this fantastic news.  It was a changed line up for Salford RLFC as a couple of long term absentees got back onto the field with Winger Jack Holmes and and Forward Charlie Glover taking their place back in the starting 17 which boosted Dave Hewitt's squad ahead of the contest. London opened the scoring after 6 minutes when 2 nd row forward Luke Smith cut though the Salford defence to score, London smelt blood and doubled their lead when good hands sent Centre Robert Mathias over for his 1 st score, Fullback James Meadows converted one and missed one and it was 0-10 to London after 11 minutes.   VALLIANT REDS DAMAGE LIMITATION SUCCESS Salford RLFC 0 Castleford Tigers 22 It would be difficult to imagine two more contrasting sides than those on display in this ladies’ home league fixture with Castleford, on Sunday afternoon, with the Salford players being overshadowed by the significant physical prowess of the much more mature stature of the visitors. It was in their contrasting styles of play however, that the difference became most evident, with each team playing very much to their strengths, and both doing so extremely well. The quite notable improvement in the teamwork of the Salford side, over the season, progressed to a new high. Their ball-handling skills has now reached the point at which they were able to dominate possession for reasonably lengthy periods in a game, in which they were so outsized by a much bigger, stronger opposition, that it became a a great asset.
