Devil In The Detail SRD · Opening Day success for the Red Devils as they lay in wait for Red Robins who come bobbin It was a chilly clear night in Salford as the two sides walked out of the tunnel. The home supporters were full of optimism after the recent player contract news and last weeks victory at Leigh. Hull Kingston Rovers were missing a couple of key players but themselves were brimming with confidence after a comprehensive win over the much fancied Wigan last Saturday. The Red Devils were pretty much at full strength and coach Paul Rowley made two changes to his starting thirteen with Joe Burgess replacing Rhys Williams on the wing. Jack Ormondroyd started and King Vuniyayawa was on the bench. The match started at a blistering pace with Salford moving the ball wide at top speed at every opportunity. It was exciting to watch and you sensed points could be on the way. Rovers were solid in defence and very well organised with Jordan Abdull and Mikey Lewis working together well

Devil In The Detail SRD · Celebrating Ackers contact extension and looking forward to Leigh   Salford v Hull Kingston Rovers. Both sides got off to winning starts with Salford beating Leigh last Friday and the following day Hull Kingston Rovers pulled off a very impressive victory over Wigan. These two sides have been over looked by many of the pundits and bookmakers but both sides possess threats all over the pitch. Shaun Kenny-Dowell scores at hat trick against Wigan and the kiwi veteran is hoping for a big season in 2023. The Robins have a new coach  in Willie Peters. Devil In The Detail SRD · Celebrating Ackers contact extension and looking forward to Leigh It was quite a return to Rugby League’s top flight for the town of Leigh. The newly branded Leopards put on quite a show prior to kick off. Live music, dancers, flame jugglers and a spectacular firework show set the match up perfectly.  A packed crowd waited for the two teams to emerge and Salford ran out in their stunning centenary kit. This Leigh team was packed with house hold names and plenty of players with Super League experience. Zak Hardacker started at fullback and former Salford stars Ed Chamberlain and Gareth O’Brien were in the starting thirteen. Salford kept the spine of the side that did so well last season. New signings Sam Stone and Oliver Partington were in the starting line up.  After the razzmatazz before the match it was down to business and the Rugby League purists were in for a treat. Both sides traded sets early on with defences on top and no real clear cut chances. Leigh

Devil In The Detail SRD · Chris Atkin and Deon Cross pop up Podcast Waiting for the fixtures to be announced it was a knocking bet that Salford would travel to Leigh first up. Since Leigh’s departure from their famous Hilton Park ground Salford’s only success at the new ground came in a pre season match a number of years ago.  Leigh’s squad for 2023 has seen lots of players arrive with quite a few big names too. The club have rebranded and will be the Leigh Leopards when the season kicks off. Many people have sneered at the Leopards thing and it might not be to everyone’s taste but you can’t knock them for trying to promote the sport in what is a real rugby league town. So many players come through the amateur scene in Leigh and have done over the years. I personally hope the Leigh Leopards have a successful season apart from when Salford are their opposition. Leigh’s previous adventures in the Super League have all ended pretty briefly. The club lasted one season in 2005 before rel
