Leeds v Salford Match report

Image
It would be impossible to try and paint a pleasant picture of Salford’s Saturday evening match against Leeds. The score line at the final hooter almost mirrored the terrific win over Hull a few weeks ago only this time Salford were on the wrong end of it. Ken Sio was on the end of an early Salford break but unfortunately got injured in the tackle and had to be helped from the field. This was a major blow to Ian Watson’s game plan. The side had to be re shuffled and Leeds took full advantage catching Salford cold out wide on the side Sio would normally play. Ash Handley struck first before Richie Myler added the second. On the very next set following Myler’s try the Rhinos struck again. Robert Lui strolled through a big gap before putting half back partner Luke Gale in for an easy try. At the midway point of the first half Salford trailing 16-0 needed a response. Make shift winger Chris Atkin finished off a lovely ball handling move with an airborne finish only to be denied by the vid

Leeds v Salford Big match preview

Leeds v Salford  The two sides have met once already this season at the a AJ Bell Stadium back in February with Leeds coming out on top 8-22. Despite Saturday’s match being played behind closed doors in Warrington I am writing this preview with Leeds as the home side. It’s been quite confusing recently with fixture changes and postponement in both the League and Challenge Cup. 2020 has been a mixed bag so far for the Rhinos. Thumped at home to Hull 4-30 in round one they responded soundly in round two to trounce Hull Kingston Rovers 52-4. A 36-0 demolition of Warrington at Headingley made it three wins from their opening four matches and a very solid start for Richard Agar and his team. In a way the suspension of the season came at a time were both Salford and Leeds were starting to find their feet.  Leeds have played three matches in August. A golden point win over Huddersfield was followed by a 0-48 hammering from St Helens. Defeat against Wigan last time out leaves a little bit of

Devil In The Detail SRD · Super league return and Salford v Hull FC preview After five months without playing a match Salford could have been excused for a little rustiness however last Sunday’s thumping of Hull made Ian Watson’s side look like a well oiled, efficient machine. A ten try display, fifty four points and some enthralling attacking rugby helped underline the great work Watson and his coaching staff have been doing.   It’s been a difficult time for everyone in day to day life in recent times. For a club like Salford who aren’t awash with riches and resources everyone has had to come together. Results and on field performances quite rightly grab the headlines but the work ethic, team spirit and togetherness of recent times has made the supporters so proud to follow the team they hold in their hearts. One of the most pleasing aspects of last Sunday’s result was the sheer depth of the performance. Every player did their job to perfection, reading the plays perfectly. Tacti

Devil In The Detail SRD · Super league return and Salford v Hull FC preview Salford celebrated their return to action after lockdown with a impressive win against Hull FC. Hull FC were the 1st team to score with a try by Albert Kelly but Salford recovered and found their stride. They hit back, a Ken Sio try after Tui lolohea created space with a fantastic pass. The creator turned try scorer shortly after as Tui barged over from close range to put Salford ahead. There was a double for the Tongan half back shortly after as he finished a sweeping team move  putting Salford in the driving seat at 18-6 midway through the 1st half. Salford harrassed their opposition into errors and a boyent Salford extended their lead as Welsh winger Rhys Williams crashed over in the corner. With the kick good by the man of the moment Lolohea Salford lead 22-6. Just before half time Hull hit back as Manu Manu squeezed over to pull Hull 10 points behind at half Time. The 2nd half started brightly for Hull
