Salford Red Devil’s 54 Hull FC 18 Match report



Salford celebrated their return to action after lockdown with a impressive win against Hull FC.
Hull FC were the 1st team to score with a try by Albert Kelly but Salford recovered and found their stride.

They hit back, a Ken Sio try after Tui lolohea created space with a fantastic pass. The creator turned try scorer shortly after as Tui barged over from close range to put Salford ahead. There was a double for the Tongan half back shortly after as he finished a sweeping team move  putting Salford in the driving seat at 18-6 midway through the 1st half.

Salford harrassed their opposition into errors and a boyent Salford extended their lead as Welsh winger Rhys Williams crashed over in the corner. With the kick good by the man of the moment Lolohea Salford lead 22-6.

Just before half time Hull hit back as Manu Manu squeezed over to pull Hull 10 points behind at half Time.

The 2nd half started brightly for Hull and Salford were feeling the pressure. As Hull looked like they were about to open the scoring in the 2nd half Salford half back Chris Atkin intercepted a loose pass and ran 80 meters to extend the lead further.

Hull FC rallied with a try from Jamie Shall but Salford were unfazed with Luke Yates crashing over the line to keep the momentum with the Red Devil’s.

As the game went on Hulls disapline faulted and they were reduced to 12 men when winger Ratu Naulago was sinbinned for throwing the ball away. Salford played the numerical advantage well and made the game safe.

Further tries from Rhys Williams, Kris Welham, Ken Sio and Nial Evalds took Salford past the 50 point mark. Ian Watson’s men will be very happy with the performance and will be looking to build on this when they go to St Helens next week and face Catalan Dragons.
