Manchester Storm 3 Coventry Blaze 2 Match report

 Manchester Storm secured their 1st Elite league win of the season with a extra time win.
Both teams were looking to make a impression early in the game but it was the Storm who took the lead when Ciaran Long fired the puck past Blaze netminder Shane Owen at 13.01 following a good pass from behind the net from Ben Davies.
Storm continued to put pressure on Coventry then some good play saw Manchester Storm double their lead in the 2nd period  Scott Simmonds with the clinical finish to make it 2-0  at 38.27.

The 3rd period Manchester Storm started brightly with a power play but it was Coventry 
Blaze finally got on the scoreboard when Norwegian forward Simen Andre Edvardson fired the puck home on 46.58.


The game was end to end action and there was still goals to come as the Blaze drew level with just under two minutes to go when ex Storm player Mike Hammond cooly scored to make it 2-2 at 58.03.


In extra time chances came for both sides, , both netminders were kept busy.

Manchester Storm forward  Andreas Klavestad created space and found Ben Lake who carmly secured the extra point for the Storm at 64.14.


A good way to start the Elite series for Ryan Finitely and his squad as they prepare for the derby against Sheffield Steelers tomorrow.
