Salford Red Devil’s suffered defeat in their Challenge cup dress rehearsal last weekend against Castleford Tigers. A mixture of mistakes and penalties gave The Tigers possession and territorial advantage and left Salford licking their wounds.
Coach Richard Marshall was unhappy with some refereeing during the game, he accepts that players will make errors if they are being creative in games but still bemoans that sometimes dumb play can offset any advantages created by good play.
Salford face Castleford again this weekend in Yorkshire, it will be a big test for last years Challenge Cup runners up. Cup to reverse the result from last weekend.
With Covid restrictions being reduced a crowd at the Challenge Cup final this year remains likely, let’s hope the Salford fans can take this opportunity to walk down Wembley way this year.
Swinton Lions suffered defeat against Widnes Vikings in the Championship. Stuart Littler’s men gave the Vikings a early scare with a period of pressure early on but were unable to turn it into points.
Nico Rizzelli and Mike Butt crossed for the lions.

Salford City FC were reduced to 9 men and suffered defeat against Colchester United at Weekend which put a spanner in the works as they try and reach the playoffs.
Forest Green and Exeter are the two teams above the Ammies with one game to go, a win for Salford and both defeat for their league rivals will be enough for a playoff spot.
What ever happens Salford City FC have shown great character in the last few weeks battling to get in with a chance of a playoff spot, so this experience will be valuable going into next season.
Manchester Storm were knocked out of the Elite League semi final after losing to Sheffield Steelers. Ryan Finnerty will have mixed feelings about the defeat, he will be proud of his teams performance through the competition but with high hopes defeat at this stage will be disappointing.
There has been some stand out performers this season for the Manchester Storm, Captain fantastic Dallas Ehrhardt produced some great performances as did goal scoring hero Ciaran Long who's predator like instincts in and round the goal area have given Storm extra attacking threat.
With the Covid Pandemic causing hardship for most of the Ice Hockey clubs in this country, it was good that Manchester Storm were able to particiapte in the Elite League Competion and their fans have plenty to look forward to in 2021/2022.
Over the weekend Manchester United supporters have made their voices heard regarding their views against the current ownership of the club.
15 years ago the Glazer family took out a loan to buy Manchester United, saddling the club with a enormous debt in the process.
Despite winning trophies since that period it can be identified that Manchester United’s direction of travel is in a downward direction, As funds from the club have been used to repay the debt fans feel that without having to service the debt the Glazers time in charge would have been very different.
This situation and the European Super League has made football fans up and down the country stand up to greedy owners and demand a say on what happens to the club.
It will be interesting to see what happens at Old Trafford in the short and medium term. The Glazer family I feel would run out of old Trafford if a potential buyer appears on the horizon with bid of £4 Billion.
Fans and Government will demand a seat at the table so will this out off potential investors?
The big question is with the current financial situation in the world who has £4 Billion pound to invest and how do fans stop the situation turning into Glazer mark 2 in a few years time.
