Midland Hurricanes 16 Swinton Lions 54 Match report
Swinton Lions made it two wins in two games after a big win away at Midland Hurricanes.
Swinton opened the scoring after 6 minutes when Prop forward Deane Meadows burst the Midlands defence wide open for 1st score for The Lions.
Swinton who have found their attack mojo doubled their lead 4 minutes later after forcing a goaline drop out Louis Brogan forced his way over.
Swinton Lions 12 points up Allan Coleman was happy.
15 minutes into the game Swinton were dominant, another pressure induced 10 metre restart Dan Abram showed a touch of class to collect a pass and go over for Swinton.
It was on 20 minutes when Midland Hurricanes had their 1st moment of pressure, it resulted in a try by Ben Stead who went in by the posts to peg back Swinton, 18 points to 6 the game was still in the balance.
All Midland’s good work was undone however when they were reduced to 12 men with Tyler Walten was put in the sin bin for punching and Swinton took full advantage when the impressive Jack Spencer found a gap in the Hurricanes defence to score.
Swinton finished the half strong and we’re rewarded when Centre Jayden Hatten crashed over after expensive play by Alan Coleman’s men they had a 20 point lead going into the 2nd half.
The 1st 17 minutes of the half was very competitive and both sides asked questions of their opponents.
Swinton with Louis Brogan had the answers to the questions, he sent Lewis Channock crashing over by the posts and The Lions were on the board in the 2nd half.
Loose Forward Jordan Chase who never took a backward step all afternoon was rewarded with a try and with 15 minute to go Swinton lead 16-42.
Mike Butt and Jayden Hatten scored in the final ten minutes for the lions to send them back to Swinton full of smiles and determination ready to go again this week as they travel to Doncaster on Sunday 10th April.
