It was a tough encounter early in the contest with both sets of forwards looking to gain a foot hold in the game.

Salford thought they had opened the scoring early in the game but Hooker Taz Corcoran who was outstanding all afternoon had her effort ruled out for obstruction in the build up.

It was after 20 minutes Salford drew 1st blood. Good work by Captain Louise Fellingham created space for Centre Steph Gray to race over for the 1st score of the afternoon. Demi Jones added the conversion and Salford lead 0-6.

The next Salford try scorer was England international Sarina Tamou, finding space she rampaged through the Widnes defence before crashing over for her 2nd try in 2 games. Demi Jones kicked the conversion and Salford had a healthy 0-12 lead.

Just on the half time Widnes hit back with a try which they failed to convert and at the break Salford lead 4-12.

The 2nd half started well for Salford Gray with another trade mark finish to push Salford further infront at 4-16.

Salfords final score came from Hooker Tasmin Corcoran, a trademark dancing run from dummy half close to the Widnes line was too much for the defence. Demi Jones goaled to bring Salfords scoring for the afternoon to a end.

The game was a real tough contest for Salford, all the forwards in particular YPS, Darcy Price and Hanna Wicks went to war with their Widnes counterparts at times and fully deserved to be on the right side of the result.
