When the season finished few if any Salford fans would have predicted what would have happened next. The news of Richard Marshalls departure will be hard to take for some, he has stated many times his ambition to coach at a higher level and fans of the club would accept through gritted teeth if this came to pass if he had departed for a NRL or elite Super League club. Ian Watson had already rejected a move from Hull Fc to secure his services last month many thought the Salford project would run for another season at least and with the financial situation improved because of the CVA and another attempt at glory would have taken place. Unfortunately it wasn’t ment to be. The challenge for Salford is to continue the progress made under Ian Watson with a new face incharge. There are lots coaches being linked to the Salford job, coaches who are experienced, who have had big jobs before. Expectations were high in this part of West Yorkshire. With big money signings and a hefty looking squad Leeds were being tipped by many to finish high up the table. In contrast Paul Rowley’s Salford side had already been written off before a tackle has been made, that’s the way we like it though. Rugby league can be very parochial at times and if you listened to everything the media said you’d never believe or have faith in anything. Devil In The Detail SRD · Wilkinson and Bates wonders put smiles on faces going into international Weekend.   Salford Red Devils Ladies continued with their winning habit beating Hull FC on Sunday at the University of Hull. Kayleigh Bradshaw and Megan Condliffe returned to the Salford starting 13, Brogan Evans  took her place on the interchange bench. Hull FC who came into the game on the back of a 5 game winless run and with confidence low Chris Bates ladies knew the 1st score in the game would be crucial.  After a cagey 1st 10 minutes in which Salford Fullback Luci Mckeown limped off not to return which created a headache for Salford, Alex Simpson moved to fullback and Vannessa Hadley into the centre, Taz Corcoran moved to Loose forward and Brogan Evan dropped into the hooking role.
